Looking for Your Input

On Wednesday I wrote about my shift to offering my eCourses On Demand, but I’ll still be teaching Instructor Led eCourses too, just not as frequently. I’ve decided to teach one of the Find Your Eye series eCourses this fall as Instructor Led, and I’d like to get your input on which one!

Class registration will open late July for the chosen eCourse, which will run in September-October.

Which do you think it will be?

Will it be Journey of Recognition? This one was the first in the series, and the first eCourse for me EVER. It was written while I was in Italy, in the early flush of discovering myself an artist, which makes it dear to my heart.

Or maybe it will be Journey of Inspiration, the second one written in the series, which captures my transition home. I had shifted from the amazement of recognizing myself as an artist to finding my inspiration.

Or will it be Journey of Fascination, the most recent in the series, which really captures so much of my journey of transition, finding myself “home” and developing my ongoing fascination with photography.

Each Journey eCourse has it’s own flavor, energy, and focus since they are based on my personal journey at the time they were written. I can’t wait to see which one is selected!

The Space Between

I have been struggling with my art. Yes, I’ve been playing and exploring, but struggling too. Learning something new is like that. The delight of new discovery. The wonder of the first, sometimes accidental, success. Then comes realization of intent. And with it the struggle to recreate what was first encountered by serendipitous accident.

For weeks, since creating this piece called “Looking Through,” I’ve been staring at it on my photo display. Trying to figure out what makes it resonate with me so much. How I can create other pieces with a similar feel.

It’s been a struggle. Lots of experimentation and failures. Many successful in their own way, but not the same as Looking Through. Finally, this weekend I created another that’s on the right track. I finally figured out one of the secret ingredients that had been eluding me — the space between.

The next day, as I was getting ready for yoga, I was wondering what I should do with myself. I had two days left in my holiday weekend, and no major plans. No classes to prepare for, since I’ve rescheduled to take the summer off. No big exhibitions to print and frame; I’m all ready for June. Newsletter written. No looming deadlines. My head started racing off onto new projects and new ideas. I started thinking of what I should do next, making plans. I suddenly stopped short, realizing…

For just a little while, I need to live in the space between.

What did I clear my schedule for this summer, if not to create space? Space for being, instead of doing. Space to take care of body and soul, instead of mind. Space to explore, and see what happens.

Even as I struggle to bring intentional openness into my art, I struggle to stay here, intentionally open, in my life, too. There must be something I need to learn here, in the space between.

Grateful for this Day

Today as I watched the video linked below, this image jumped out to me. A moment, a tiny detail, captured on a Swiss mountain over a year ago. A moment when my eyes were open to see the beauty of the world around me.

I don’t have much time for blogging today, I have some early meetings I need to go get ready for. I want to leave you with this incredible video on gratitude. If you have 10 minutes, your time will be well spent. I guarantee you will see your world, your day and your photographs with a sense of gratitude by the end.

Morning Sparkles

I’m having such a busy week, I almost forgot to post today! I captured this beautiful morning frost sparkling in the sun on Monday, in Parco di Monza. This was captured with my little point-and-shoot, as are many of my shots in the park. Just a little reminder that you don’t need a fancy camera to capture the sparkles in life.

Today’s 9 Muses Musing prompt is SPARKLING. Tomorrow’s prompt is CELEBRATE. See you then!
