Fuel your Creativity for Free

Can you imagine a world without creativity? Imagine a world without vibrant color, without fusions of flavors, without words that move us, without music that invites us to dance. The world would be flat, dull and lifeless. I can’t imagine it.

Can you imagine a life without creativity? Imagine a life filled with errands, appointments, bills and frustrations. Unfortunately, all too many of us can imagine this life. We get swept up into the flow of everyday urgency and don’t make time for ourselves, much less our creativity.

That just won’t do.

Over the last few years I’ve learned something important about myself: I need creativity in my life. Creating brings me back to center, and allows me to connect to my core and remember who I am. Creating pushes me to keep moving; to see the world in new ways. And creating enables me to connect with others too, when I share the result and spark a response.

Good for the Soul

I think we all need creativity in our lives, but sometimes we lack the energy. We lack the spark to get us moving. We forget how simple a creative practice can be. We think we need hours of time to take a class, or create a finished work, or it’s just not work the effort.

But creativity doesn’t require all of the overhead we place on it. Creativity happens in small chunks of time, when you’ve created openness in thought. It flows when you’ve nourished yourself with rich material; when you’ve tossed lots of ideas into the mix and let them stew. Creativity happens when you have fuel.

Right now, the Fuel Your Creativity eCourse is free to anyone who wants to take it. This one-week prompt class has short, daily exercises to open you up to creativity in your life. It’s intended to help you see how simple and easy a creative practice can be. I would love to have you join me, and invite your friends to come along.

We don’t want to live in a world without creativity, now do we? It’s time to contribute yours.

Be part of a Positive Cycle

Have you ever been swept into a positive cycle? One good thing happens, then another, and another… the positive energy flows. We often get bogged down in negative energy cycles, but the positive ones are the best. How would you like to participate in one? I have a way you can insert yourself. You have the opportunity to help inspire others and to fuel your creativity too. Here’s the cycle you can join…

Step 1 of the cycle: My friend, Toan Lam, founded Go Inspire Go. Toan is a former news reporter who was tired of dwelling on the bad news. He created Go Inspire Go to help tell inspiring stories of people using their power to help others. How awesome is that?

Step 2: I met Toan when he interviewed me for a Tea with Toan segment on the Photo-Heart Connection for his blog over a year ago. We clicked and have become friends, meeting in person when I visited San Francisco and chatting on Skype when we get a chance. (Not nearly often enough!)

Step 3: Toan and Go Inspire Go just launched the 50-50 Campaign. Their goal is to raise $50,000 to uncover and tell 50 inspiring stories from 50 US states. They want to spread the positive message! You can visit here to read more about the campaign and meet Toan in the video explaining what he wants to do. It’s worth the watch!

Step 4: Pay close attention – Here’s where you come into the cycle! Donate to the 50-50 campaign and help Toan and his crew of volunteers bring the 50 inspiring stories to life. Whatever they raise, they will use to tell as many inspiring stories as they can. Donate what you can, it doesn’t matter if it’s a little or a lot. Every little bit will help!

Step 5: Receive my one week eCourse, Fuel Your Creativity, as a perk for any donation over $5. This is me sharing my power to help others – showing that each of us can bring the positive energy of creativity into our daily lives. It was always my plan to make Fuel Your Creativity an on-demand eCourse, and it will be available for regular registration on my site after June 3. Until then, the only way to get this creative boost earlier is to donate to the Go Inspire Go 50-50 campaign.

Step 6: Do the exercises in the Fuel Your Creativity course. Feel a boost of energy. Find more happiness in your daily life as you become more aware of your surroundings. Find joy in creating, whatever your medium.

Step 7: Share that joy and happiness you find through your creativity with everyone you come in contact with! The good that comes from creativity is contagious. This is your power to pass on. Who knows what else your positive energy will lead you to?

There you have it. The cycle of positive energy, started by Toan wanting to share inspiring news instead of bad, continues — out from you. Each of us who touches the cycle transforms it a little bit. We all have a slightly different power to help others, and that’s a beautiful thing. The cycle spirals out in every direction! I love that I can use my unique power to help Go Inspire Go’s mission. What’s your power? You can help too!

Fuel Your Creativity: New eCourse Open for Registration

It’s time for something new! Let’s ring in the New Year with a burst of creativity. From January 6 – 12, 2013, join me for Fuel Your Creativity, a one-week prompt class designed to get your creativity flowing.

We all love creating, don’t we? It’s fun and exciting, when things are flowing naturally. But they don’t always flow, do they. Creating does not always come easily. It takes fuel. The fuel for our creativity has two parts: raw material and energy. Every experience you’ve had, idea you’ve read, interaction you’ve experienced becomes raw material which helps fuel your creativity. In order to create, turn the raw material into something new, you need creative energy.

In this daily prompt class, you will focus on finding the fuel for your creativity, through awareness of your surroundings and awareness of yourself. Each day for seven days, you receive a simple exercise via email. Through the exercises you find raw materials in your everyday life and get your creative energy flowing.

Each day we’ll also come together in a discussion group, sharing our experiences and our creations, to further boost the fuel for your creativity. There is nothing like the group dynamic to enhance creativity, is there? This will be the only time this year I offer this course as an instructor-led group course, after this it will only be offered as individual self-study, so don’t miss out on this opportunity.

Doesn’t this sound like a fun way to start the New Year? Learn more and register here. I hope you’ll join me! I’m so excited to share this with you, I can’t wait to start the New Year this way.

If you’re a Kat Eye News subscriber, watch this Sunday’s newsletter for a special offer on this eCourse, just for you. And if you’re not a Kat Eye News subscriber, now is the time to sign up!
