In Search of Beauty

Today I find myself in search of beauty. Craving flowers in my images. As I sat down to write this morning, I discovered I didn’t have any photos ready that I wanted to share today. So I set out in search of some beauty.

For some reason, this brought to mind a day spent in Korkula, Croatia, in 2010. On this day, I wandered the alleyways of the historic stone town. I remember enjoying the shady light, the summer flowers and the texture of the stone. It was a quiet day, as if I had the town to myself. Me and my camera.

Revisiting images of Korkula, I found beauty.

What are you searching for today?

What a lovely surprise, to find a pot of flowers in that stone niche (window?). I was searching for beauty and connection with nature today, and I found it. The forecast was for rain, but when the day turned out clear and lovely, I dropped everything and went out with my camera. It was perfect and just what I needed.

I love the contrast of the chiseled looking stonework and the softness of the flowerheads in that little niche.
The slight honey-tone reminds me a little of the beautiful Cotswolds stone which is the area I come from in England.
    Have a lovely Sunday!

what an incredible photo! i too love the contrast between the hard stone wall and the soft pretty flowers. an unlikely, but perfect combo! this post is timely for me because today it was gray and foggy here, i wasn’t so much looking for beauty, but for something to lighten the mood for a half hour or so. i found myself taking self portraits in the shiny hubcap of our little trailer. {sort of had a fisheye lens affect}. kind of goofy…but it did the trick! 🙂

I like the way you “found” beauty. There’s tons of it in the archives, isn’t there? This shot so says “Kat” with the frame w/in a frame and the subtle flowers the eye is drawn too.
I so wish I had been into photography when I visited Croatia in 2007 and would love to return. Such an amazingly beautiful country. The group I traveled with raised $140,000 to have land mines cleared from a small village which we were able to visit. Now that the mines have been cleared, the fields are being farmed and young families are returning. Such a great memory.
I don’t know what I’m searching for today. Currently I’m procrastinating doing HW, so perhaps I’m searching for time. Enought to waste and enough to complete my project.
    Have a great day.

Oh wow – you found beauty. And pushed me a bit to finally start planning that trip to Croatia I’ve been pondering.

Definitely GO!! You can search “Croatia” on my blog and find quite a few pics of different places. I’d be happy to give you info on where we went!
