I’m wrapping up Chicago today, with a few fun images of us playing tourist. Our primary purpose of the trip was to visit family in Wisconsin, so Chicago was the vacation we added on with just the three of us. It’s always fun to visit a big city with lots to explore, and we managed to see and do a few things.
Hanging out over the city, at the Willis (Sears) Tower…
Catching light at the Museum of Science and Industry…
Bumping into astronauts at the Adler Planetarium…
Riding the trains…(Vacation is one of the few times my son lets me photograph him. I think this one is a keeper!)
Watching the whales at the Shedd Aquarium…
Rubbing elbows with Sue at the Field Museum…
And walking, walking, walking daily through Millennium Park, occasionally squeezing in a family photo…
Bye, bye Chicago! Thanks for a fun time.

You squeezed A LOT of sight-seeing into one day. That is impressive. LOVE all the shots 😀
Oh my goodness, it wasn’t one day! It was four. I’m not sure it’s physically possible to visit all of these awesome places in one day… 🙂
Hey Kat-looks like you all had fun and that you had fun with your camera….exploring (which I miss BTW).
I love the pic of your son and remember another you took in a train window a couple years ago. He’s growing up.
I’m seeing such a shift in your style which is really cool. How interesting you chose to make yourself into a tree. Jus’ sayin’. Wonder what all these trees might mean.
Oh, yes, I remember that train window too! He is so different now, that was maybe four years ago? Another train trip on vacation, sitting across from him with my camera. Seems to be a good opportunity. 🙂
As for trees… maybe someday I’ll figure out why I’m so attracted to them, but until then I’m just enjoying them.
I love the photo from the Museum of Science and Industry – very cool with the green and white background! I grew up in Wisconsin. What area of Wisconsin were you in?
We stopped for family visits in Kenosha and East Troy, and then the family reunion was in Wisconsin Dells. Ironically, my husband’s family is from Wisconsin but it was my family’s reunion, so we were able to piggy back visits. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Brookfield, which is about 30 minutes west of Milwaukee. Wisconsin is a nice place to visit – hope you had a fun trip!
Your family portrait is so sweet, Kat. My goodness, your son has grown up so much since the last photo we saw! I love Chicago — lived there for a year and enjoyed it so much! I love the Sears Tower shot (terrifying for me with my fear of heights) and the first shot of Chicago, could have been taken 8o years ago.
Oh, Brandon hated those window things on the Sears Tower too. We could barely get him to step onto it for a picture! Yeah, Brandon is really growing up. He’s only a few inches shorter than me and his feet are now bigger. The thing about not taking pictures of him often, when I do capture a good one like this, I am always shocked by how much he’s grown and matured when I look at the picture. It’s as if the picture shows him to me differently than I see him every day.
Looks like you guys had a great time. I love that image of your son on the train too. Chicago is only a 5 hour drive from where we live and is somewhere I hope to visit very soon.
Thanks! We did have a fun time.
