why
I did not want
fall
to end.
With the season’s change
I close up,
go inside
and
hibernate.
Dreaming.
Collecting.
Waiting.
To see what is behind
the door
at the next
season’s change.
I don’t know about you, but winter is upon me. I have curled up on my comfy chair with my cat in my lap a lot this week, reading. I have not been very productive, but then I remembered the Spiral of Creativity. Maybe it’s time for me to hang out in the center of the spiral for a while. Go back to the beginning. Allow time for input, for gestation, for the creation of new ideas. Perhaps that’s what winter is all about. It’s time to hibernate. Dream. Rest. I wonder what new ideas will come of this time? I wrap up in my quilt, and wait to see.

Lisa Gordon of The Creative Exchange and I are teaming up this week to give away TWO spots in my January Find Your Eye: Starting the Journey course. Visit The Creative Exchange and leave a comment before Friday evening if you would like to enter to win one of these spaces!

So true! As I sit at my computer looking out the window to my frosty yard, close gray sky, and wind tossed branches, I too wonder what’s next, what to try or expand upon. Thanks so much for sharing so many inspirational ideas – I’ve truly loved following you this year!
Thanks Terrie! It’s been great having you along. I love your description of what’s out your window, very poetic.
Once the snow starts flying my creativity dies – I’m hoping a new city will help me break that cycle this year.
I’m an odd ball I know, but I love winter. I bundle up and trek through the woods near our home every day!! My wish for Christmas is some warmer weatherproof boots that will keep my feet warm out there! I hibernate in the summer, not with the quilt of course, since I don’t like the heat and the high humidity !! I love your photo. You’re doors are always so inviting!!
What a gorgeous door! Hoping I’ll have the lucky number.
I just love the idea of hanging out in the spiral. I get so overwelmed at this time of the year with all the things to do. When did it stop being fun? V
Such a beautiful handle on this door Kat, and I love the detail you have captured.
Thank you so much for sharing today at The Creative Exchange.
Have a wonderful evening.
lisa.
A beautiful door to wait behind.
So lovely to cozy up for awhile..enjoy, Kat!
I love the idea of taking time for ideas to come. For me the cycle is opposite. I’m very busy in summer, so winter is a time to explore new things and create. Enjoy your sunshine and book!
Open that door and go outside.
I know it’s not always easy, but it changes my perception every time I do it.
So tempting to stay indoors and think that I’m too tired, too cold.
And every time I’m grateful that I have taken the [cold] plunge.
It’s the getting into my outdoor clothes that is the hardest part:-)
Actually I thought that it was mild where you live at present.
Thank for for these thoughtful words. This is exactly how I have been feeling lately….it is reassuring to know that it’s simply the process of Nature unfolding….
I think this is true for a lot of us! Glad to see out there in print!
ah a red door .. what’s behind it … lots of loving warmth I am betting
