Windows on the World

I love window shots. I especially love window shots here in Italy. Just look at this window. Imagine it without the flowers and plants – it’s just a barred window at the back of a building, by a parking lot with all of the electrical boxes. Ugh. But add a couple of window boxes (creatively made of wine boxes, no less!), some draping vines and you have a beautiful little garden scene. Still at the back of the building, still with a parking lot right next to it, but you don’t notice that! Window art, for sure.

I just love this shot of a window in Italy. The textures are beautiful: the wall and the window frame. The splash of red cyclamen planted in Berlucci wine boxes is perfect! The trailing ivy below and the vine hanging down to drape gracefully in front of the window is just lovely. The reflection of that rather grand building with columns (in complete contrast to the window we are observing) and the blue sky gives a marvellous depth.

As you say, the electrical wires and boxes are completely forgotten.

Even the rust on the bars of the window adds texture and beauty!

I love this sort of shot. Wonderful!
