An epidemic is sweeping our nation. We are discontent. Workaholics. Stressed.
Often what we need is engagement in a process that allows us to have a voice. We need places to make things without judgment. We need supportive communities of other creative people. We need space to make art and a creative community to join.
The Jumpstart Creativity Tour bringing 50 FREE art-making events to cities across the USA and Canada. The 2 hour events will empower, engage, and introduce attendees to a world of opportunities. Come get inspired and stay inspired.

I share Jess Greene’s message with you today because I sooo believe her words. We need art and creativity in our lives. We need community. We are better for it. Jess will be making a stop here in Corvallis, Oregon on her Jumpstart Creativity Tour in July. I can’t wait to meet her and others in our community here as we join together to create! Will she be stopping near your home? Visit the Jumpstart Creativity Tour site to find out.

How fun! I see she will be in what looks like the Dallas area, a five hour drive from me, maybe I will be able to work it out.
Before moving to the Houston area from Dallas I was part of an artist’s tour group. We opened our studios, (homes, garages, etc.) one weekend every November to allow the community to see where we worked, and part of our processes…and it was free. We wanted to let them know that art is made and found everywhere, not just in the art districts and that most likely it could even be your neighbor. It was met with much anticipation from the community and the artists every year as the awareness of art was shared and connections were made. I was at the time a metal clay artist….and then I moved here and found my passion for photography.
Thanks for sharing this Kat!
Such a good point Kim! I never realized how many artists there are in the everyday world until I joined the local art guilds and discovered they are everywhere! And hey, I’m one too. 🙂
Kat, I can’t tell you how often I read your blog and think “Yes, that’s exactly what I needed to see/hear today!” After a stressful few days filled with uninspiring work, I put a little message out to the universe, asking for some guidance. When I opened my email, I saw The Jumpstart Creativity Tour info on your blog. Perfect! And they’re coming to my area – MA and RI! I’m so there.
Anyway, this was a long-winded way of saying that your blog ROCKS! =)
Awesome!! I love hearing that Annie. You made my day. 🙂
Kat, what a wonderful post! I hadn’t heard of this, but am so glad to know about it! I love the message that you and she are sharing. Brilliant. Speaks right to the heart!
