Life is a movement in and out of creative inspiration. The vision must be lost in order to be regained and refashioned. Loss and longing are preconditions of creation.
— Shaun McNiff in Trust the Process: An Artist’s Guide to Letting Go
A timely quote to read this morning, given my recent brush with low inspiration. When we are in the low parts of the cycle, we forget that inspiration will come back. We don’t appreciate what the down cycles bring us… a renewed and refreshed vision when inspiration comes back.
Where are you in the inspiration cycle these days?

Lovely image! It conveys a peaceful, relaxing feeling!! I love this combination of colors! I’ve been in a small creative slump lately. Seems I’m struggling with making myself go outside in the heat!! Outside in nature is where I love to shoot most! I’m thinking I should try a summer project of maybe still images or small vignettes. I am no good at this type of photography, but I could stay inside in the cool and learn something new. Timely post, it’s gotten me thinking about how to shake the doldrums!!
Awesome! Does it cool off at night where you live? Early morning might be good for getting outside too.
Kat, that’s a good idea, but unfortunately it doesn’t cool off much and the humidty is horrible!! I walk early and spend a little time outdoors before I run to the air conditioner!! The more I think about it, the more I think I’ll just challenge myself to something new and pray for an early fall!!
Love all this stuff you’ve captures in the NW . I live in Portland and maybe we can do a photo walk sometime.
Sounds like a fun idea Elaine!
