My Two-Wheeled Adventure

This week, I rode my scooter to work for the first time! The first time out of the neighborhood, in traffic, stoplights and all that. I was nervous, but I had plotted out a route that was mostly 25mph streets with just a couple of 35mph, so I didn’t have too much to cope with. I’m not one for posing in pictures, but I had my husband take a couple of photos of me when I got home just to prove that this scooter I’ve talked about is real and all!

A friend asked if I had all kinds of pics of the cute scooter in different places, and the answer is no. These are the first photos of it! I’ve been focusing so much on learning to ride it and practicing that I haven’t taken pics. You can expect to see this little Honda Metropolitan in more photos soon… I’ll have to find some good scenes to place it in just to get my scooter photo “fix” on a regular basis. Even though I have no cute photos of it yet, I’m linking in to our great new “Muse Mosaic” at Mortal Muses on the theme of TWO with my two-wheeled transportation. You can participate with your photos too!

And… we can’t forget it’s Paint Party Friday! I must be the slowest painter in the group. I posted this painting I started over a month ago and have had nothing to link in since then…

This week I added a couple more layers, purples and reds. I like the depth of the added colors but it needs more light/dark contrast so I’ll be working on that.

After looking at it for a while, I started to feel like it really goes this way. We shall see, more layers to come. I’m just having lots of fun!

Have a great weekend!

1 – you are way too cool with your scooter but you must start carrying your camera along for the ride. And 2 – look at your work! I haven't done any "painting" in years. I prefer oil pastels but I get so messy that I rarely pull them out anymore.

I was SO looking forward to a piccy of you on your scooter and I haven't been disappointed. What a duo! I'm glad to see it is partly red and I like the colour co-ordinated helmet 🙂

Your painting is wonderful. It's great to see how you've built it up and isn't it fascinating that just turning it round a different way can make a whole new work of art. It's vibrant and fun and reminds me of parties – balloons and bubbles and all things round!

Thanks for sharing your WIP – love the circles and showing the build up of layers. I kind of showed the same progression of my piece for this week – I love seeing how other people's art evolves.

BTW, thanks for the postcard in Liberate Your Art – it was lovely and a perfect finish for a great swap. I loved receiving the cards and for my first ever swap, call it more than a success! Hope you find time to do it again….

Your painting is beautiful, I like the colors and how it all blendds together. Sometimes (actually more often than not) it takes me forever to finish a project.
I like you on your cute little scooter – yay for you that you rode to work on it!!!

Love the scooter and love the colour direction your painting is going in…gorgeous rich shades. You've just given me an idea for something else with that palette 🙂 And here's to posting work in progress with abandon 🙂

    Hi Kat!

I love your scooter – I stopped by your post yesterday and wasn't able to leave a comment (now I know maybe there was a reason). I had a dream last night that I was riding your awesome red scooter through the halls of the hospital while visiting my father-in-law! (It was a lot of fun to ride! hee hee)

I'm really enjoying watching your painting progress 🙂

Oh your painting is fantastic! Worth the wait! I've always wanted to try a scooter to work too! We have dangerous moutian curves and steep grades though so I chickened out big time. Happy PPF a bit late! Deb

Wonderful painting! I love seeing the stages of your work – the blue painting was great on it's own, and then WOW – the reds and purples kick up about 10 notches. I am SUCH an impatient painter. I can never wait for a layer to be totally dry – I've forever muddying things up because I moved on too quickly. Plus I get so excited I forget to take pictures along the way to document the layers. Embrace the slow – especially when your work is so cool!

Hey Kat…congrats on getting "on the road". You look safe and secure-how fun.
I like your painting. I don't know anything about painting (taking Art Appreciation this fall tho'), but I love the color combos and the abstract feel. Been busy with FYE, so sorry I haven't been visiting for a bit. Can't wait to try some night shots for Exploring.
