Oregon’s trees celebrate all four seasons, but the most fleeting and variable are spring and fall. There is a poignant and fragile beauty in these times of transition. Each day within the season, every turn of the year, reveals something different through the transformation from summer to winter and back again when I watch closely. The rapidly changing structure and color of the trees reminds me to pay attention; life is passing. The light will change. Tomorrow or the next day, the blossoms or leaves will fall.
In these times of transition, the trees teach me an important lesson: Be present, and notice what is around me. Stop and capture this ephemeral beauty when I see it, for there is only this one moment, only now.
