Ah, August. Such a bittersweet month.
The fields and forests smell sweet as they turn to gold.
The light arrives later, making the shadows on my morning paths longer.
All reminding me that summer is nearing its end. I must take every opportunity to play!
And be grateful for this time, these colors. August.

I’ve been trying to figure out all week why there is such a specific feeling to August for me. It’s definitely because of the light on the grass… The grass is only like this at the end of summer, this translucent gold, and the slow progression of daylight toward autumn means I’m at the right place at the right time of day to capture it illuminated. Oh, I love your description. I can hear them too! I feel the same when I hear a the sound of a train whistle in the evening. I’m transported back to summer nights of my childhood, lying in my bedroom with my window open…
